Catamount Commitment for transfer students is available whether you enroll for the first time in summer, fall, or spring semester (funding only available during fall and spring semesters). You must enroll within one academic year of NCCC associate-degree completion. You are deemed a transfer student if you enroll at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵto earn an undergraduate degree, and:

• You have never previously enrolled at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵto pursue an undergraduate degree

AND

• You have attempted college coursework elsewhere since completion of high school (with the exception of the summer immediately following spring graduation from high school)

  

For timely transfer applicants from NC into WCU

• Apply for Admission as a resident-credit transfer student (apply.wcu.edu):
  • By April 1 for Summer/Fall Term Entry (award applied to fall and spring terms)
  • By Nov 1 for Spring Term Entry
• $1,000 annual award ($500 per semester)
• Available for a maximum of 3 years (6 semesters) of funding for those who fulfill eligibility requirements
• May use remaining semesters of eligibility for graduate school at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵif bachelor’s degree is completed in fewer than 6 semesters
• Catamount Commitment can be used in combination with financial aid or other scholarships up to the cost of attendance

Eligibility: Who is considered for Catamount Commitment?

• North Carolina students
• Graduates of a North Carolina Community College (NCCC)
  • Completion of an associate’s degree
  • Direct transfer to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵfrom a NCCC
• 3.0-or-better post-secondary GPA
• Enroll within 1 academic year of graduation (cannot attend any non-NCCC institution between graduation and enrollment)
• Apply for admission by April 1 / Nov 1 (Fall/Summer or Spring entry)
• Enroll full time in a resident credit degree program (no online or distance programs)
• Major in a STEM, Health Sciences, or Education field

Renewability: How do I keep the funding?

• Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA at WCU.
• Earn at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester (15 to 17 credit hours per semester is more cost-effective and leads to timely degree completion).
• Remain in good academic standing.
• Remain enrolled in an eligible academic program
• Submit the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵscholarship application by February 1^st each year (scholarships.wcu.edu).
• Submit the FAFSA (or request an exemption) by March 15^th each year.
• Complete Catamount Commitment Terms and Conditions by May 1^st each year.

Program Terms and Conditions

• To assist other deserving students with access and affordability, award amounts are subject to change based upon financial aid, other Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵscholarships, and outside scholarships when a student’s full aid package exceeds WCU’s Cost of Attendance (COA).
• Students must complete all required steps by stated deadlines in order for the program offer to be valid.
• Recipients must read and sign a Catamount Commitment Agreement to signify they have read, understand, and agree to the terms and conditions of the program.
• Finish in fewer than three years (6 semesters) and use remaining funding toward a graduate degree at WCU: grad.wcu.edu
