Biography

Dr. Abdallah is an <b>Associate Professor of Computer and Electrical Engineering at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ</b>, a position he began in <b>January 2025</b>. Before joining WCU, he served at <b>Penn State Erie – The Behrend College from 2017 to 2024</b>, first as an <b>Assistant Professor</b> and later as a <b>tenured Associate Professor</b>. During his time at Penn State, he founded and directed the <b>Internet of Things Research Lab (IoT@Behrend)</b> and focused on <b>wireless networks, IoT, video streaming, signal processing, and applied machine learning</b>.<br><br>Beyond academia, Dr. Abdallah's experiences bridge <b>academic research and industry applications</b>, supporting <b>product development and technological innovation</b>. Before transitioning to academia, Dr. Abdallah gained <b>extensive industry experience</b>. He worked at <b>Intel Corporation</b> as an <b>embedded systems software engineer</b> at their advanced production and testing facility in Aloha, Oregon. He also completed graduate PhD internships at <b>Intel</b>, focusing on <b>wireless and telecom standards</b>, and at <b>Broadcom Inc.</b>, where he contributed to <b>interoperability testing for LTE devices</b>. Additionally, he spent seven years as a freelance embedded systems engineer between 2025 and 2012.<br><br>An active researcher, Dr. Abdallah is a <b>regular author and reviewer for IEEE journals and conferences</b>. He is a <b>Senior Member of IEEE</b> and a <b>member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE)</b>. He earned his <b>M.Sc. in Computer Engineering in 2007</b> and his <b>Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2016</b> from the <b>Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech</b>. He is also a <b>certified deep learning instructor with NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Institute (DLI)</b>.
