Biography

Gail Elliott (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing and teaches primarily in the undergraduate nursing programs within the School of Nursing. Her teaching career began as a clinical adjunct instructor in the ABSN program in May 2013.<br><br>Prior to joining the faculty at WCU, Dr. Elliott worked as a staff RN at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. Her work on the Women & Children's Unit included Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, Pediatrics, Level II NICU, and Women's Post Operative care. Work on this unit also included triage of all obstetrical patients.<br><br>Dr. Elliott's educational background began with a BA in History from University of North Carolina at Asheville. Following a medical mission trip to Honduras Dr. Elliott decided to purse nursing and graduated from the ABSN Nursing Program at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵin 2009 and then later completed WCU's MSN Nurse Educator Program in 2013. During her PhD program at UNCG, she undertook qualitative research about the experiences of first-time mothers using online social networking sites in the early postpartum period.<br><br>Dr. Elliott is a member of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), The North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She currently resides in Mills River, NC.
