In late 2017 he completed his transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy and began pursuing an interest in education after working as clinical instructor for PT/PTA students and as clinical mentor for colleagues. He was given enriching opportunities as an adjunct professor at a regional university leading the clinical gross anatomy course, teaching in multiple hybrid-PT programs covering musculoskeletal, anatomy, and clinical data analysis courses, and as a faculty member in a post-graduate orthopedic and sports residency program teaching pain neuroscience. In 2021 he entered physical therapy education full time at the University of Lynchburg where he lead the applied kinesiology course and was a member of the gross anatomy and musculoskeletal physical therapy course teams, as well as volunteering in the university's pro-bono physical therapy clinic. In the 2024 his path came full circle as he joined the WCU-DPT faculty team. <br><br>Dr. Blankenship currently is part of the second year musculoskeletal physical therapy team, clinical reasoning team, physical therapy interventions team, and leads the first year examination course. He is part the faculty-led team on multiple student research projects: looking at the biomechanics and anatomic considerations in squatting mechanics, and physiologic response to exercise testing protocols . He is also involved in the student run Mountain Area Pro Bono Health services clinic at Biltmore Park as a supervising clinician, helping to bring classroom to clinic applications for first and second year students.<br><br>Dr. Blankenship's journey has been supported by many mentors within and outside of physical therapy. His goal is to facilitate the success of PT students in finding their passion within the field of physical therapy and becoming leaders in their communities. Originally from upstate South Carolina, he is honored to give back to the university and physical therapy profession as part of the WCU-DPT faculty team!<br><br>Dr. Blankenship currently resides in Haywood County, NC and enjoys exploring the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains with his amazing wife and equally amazing two young daughters. <br><br><b>What do you love the most about being a Catamount?</b><br>Being part of a university and academic program that cares about their students and their community by providing a quality, student-centered educational environment for all.
