Dr. Joseph Hashem joined Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ in Fall 2023 following completion of his PhD at Kent State University. Before completing his terminal degree, he practiced accounting at both the industry and public levels. Over the past five years, he has taught a variety of topics including: 1. Cost Accounting, 2. Advanced Accounting Theory, and 3. Accounting Data Analytics. His research interests include examining: 1. Discretionary and involuntary determinants of financial reporting and audit quality, 2. The extent to which emerging sources of information impact firm valuation and, therefore, the value relevance of accounting information, 3. The latest developments in addressing the challenges associated with regulating and accounting for crypto-assets. At WCU, he maintains a strong relationship with students, faculty, and staff. He currently serves on the College of Business Curriculum Committee.
