Biography

Dr. Whatley is a cognitive psychologist who is broadly interested in learning and memory processes (both in research and teaching capacities). She joined Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵin Fall 2024 after earning her PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and being outside with her husband and two energetic dogs.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Whatley teaches courses in research methods (PSY 271 and 272) and cognitive psychology.

Research Interests

Dr. Whatley is interested in the motivational factors that contribute to successful learning and memory across the adult lifespan. Her research examines how information value, curiosity, and learning goals affect how and how well people learn, both in the classroom and in everyday life, and how these factors change as we get older. She is also interested in factors related to successful aging and the relationship between cognition and successful aging. <br><br>Undergraduate and/or graduate students interested in working with Dr. Whatley can send an email with their resume and a brief description of their interests.
