Biography

Phillip Entzminger (MSCJ, JD) is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Western Carolina University. He has been an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at both Chowan University (NC) and at Western Illinois University. At Chowan, Professor Entzminger taught courses in evidence, business law, constitutional law, criminal law, criminology, and management. Additionally, Professor Entzminger was the department's pre-law adviser. At Western Illinois University, Professor Entzminger taught undergraduate and graduate courses on a wide range of topics, from criminal law to civil law to juvenile justice. Moreover, he was the coach of Western Illinois' award-winning interdisciplinary mock trial team. Currently, Professor Entzminger is a PhD student in criminal justice with a concentration in intelligence. In his free time, he enjoys running (when his knees allow), and spending time on the North Carolina coast with his wife and son, Ambrose.

Teaching Interests

He currently teaches courses in criminal law, investigations, police practices & problems, confidential informants, legal environment of business, and business ethics.

Research Interests

His primary research interests include Fourth Amendment issues within the medical context, conceptual deconstruction of recidivism, and alternative punishments for specific classes of offenders.
