Students working in the physical therapy clinic
The interdisciplinary clinics on the ground floor host the nationally recognized Speech and Hearing Clinic and specialized clinics related to physical therapy, nursing, social work, nutrition, athletic training and recreational therapy. The clinics’ specialized diagnostic and rehabilitation services are provided with a primary emphasis on student education and training. The CHHS building houses both university owned and privately owned clinics that serve the residents of the region. The privately owned clinics are integrated into the mission of the university and collaborate with Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵfaculty and students. Current clinics include:
CHHS faculty and students are actively engaged in research that makes meaningful contributions to society. Current projects include increasing diversity in nursing, the study of mosquitos that carry LaCrosse encephalitis in Western North Carolina, and better understanding the diabetes and mental health issues in older native Americans.
