The undergraduate teacher preparation program has been recognized by the National Council on Teacher Quality as among the best in the nation in preparing future elementary teachers to teach children to read.

Kofi Lomotey recently received the 2023 Distinguished Contributions to Social Contexts in Education Research Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Educational Research Association Division G.

HESA Student Kayla Patterson Awarded Future Scholar Award

Kayla Patterson is a current student in the second-year cohort of the Higher Education Student Affairs program at ĢƵ. She has a graduate assistantship in the Department of Residential Living. She was recently awarded the Future Scholar Award from The Academy of Leisure Sciences. This prestigious program supports potential Ph.D. students in the field of Leisure Studies through mentorship and action. Those designated as Future Scholars have gone on to have significant impacts on the cultural context of leisure.

Dr. Ellie Blair publishes book on Jamaican Teachers, Jamaican Schools

Dr. Ellie Blair just published a book on Jamaica, "Jamaican Teachers, Jamaican Schools: Life and Work in 21st Century Schools." The book focuses on teacher leadership in Jamaica and summarizes research done in Jamaica during the last five years. The book is available from Information Age Publishing in January, 2023.
