Call Me MiSTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role models) is a Teacher Recruitment and Retention program open to ALL aspiring Teachers, regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender.

There is an expectation that graduates make a commitment to serve communities experiencing Teacher recruitment and retention challenges for as many years as they received support.

MiSTER Responsibilities

Call Me MiSTER® Scholars Must:

• Major in Elementary, Inclusive, Middle Grades Education, Health/Physical Education, Music, or Art Education
• Not withdraw from any class without advisement
• Satisfy all requirements for admission to the teacher education program
• Reside in the living-learning community for the duration of their undergraduate program
• Teach one year in an elementary or middle school for each year funds were received from Call Me MiSTER
• Conduct himself in a manner that exemplifies values of a positive role model
• Attend all scheduled Call Me MiSTER seminars and activities

How to Become A MiSTER®

1. Complete the . Once we have received your form, program staff will contact you to talk about the following steps.

4. Submit the Call Me MiSTER application through myWCU (In the My Financial Aid Status box, click on the Scholarships tab to locate the CCM application)
5. Selected candidates will be invited for a Call Me MiSTER interview process on WCU's Cullowhee campus
6. Though the program is designed to increase male teachers of diverse backgrounds in the region and across North Carolina, the program is open to all students without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, political affiliation, or National Guard or veteran status.
