2025 Woodwind Festival

Calling all flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon players! We are excited to invite you to the 2025 ĢƵWoodwind Festival presented by The School of Music at ĢƵ. Join us for a day of inspiring performances, ensemble experiences, masterclasses, and workshops with ĢƵmusic faculty and our guest artists.

Event Details:

  • Date and Time: Saturday, March 1, 2025: 9am-5pm

  • Location: Coulter Building, ĢƵ Campus, Cullowhee, NC

  • Activities:
    • Play in a Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, or Double-Reed Ensemble
    • Perform in a Woodwind Choir
    • Listen to performances by ĢƵmusic faculty and guest artists
    • Learn about your instrument from ĢƵmusic faculty and their guest artists
    • Learn the “Art of Practicing”
  • Woodwind Refresher Sessions by ĢƵWoodwind Faculty for Band Directors! (These take place while your students are attending classes and rehearsals.)

  • 3pm: Flute Mechanism Workshop by Bradford Malbon, Coulter 375
  • 4:30pm: Flute Masterclass by Dilshad Posnick, Coulter Recital Hall (ĢƵstudents perform)
  • 7:30pm: Clarinet Masterclass by Emily Talley, Coulter 357 (ĢƵstudents perform)
  • 7:30pm: Saxophone Masterclass by Matt Younglove, Coulter Recital Hall (ĢƵstudents perform)
