MPM PROGRAM LEADER TO CONDUCT RESEARCH ‘DOWN UNDER’

Australia always has been a place where Vittal Anantatmula, professor and director of ĢƵ’s Master of Project Management Program, wanted to conduct research. The longtime ĢƵfaculty member will get that opportunity this fall after being selected to receive a 2018 Endeavor Executive Fellowship, allowing him to conduct research at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, WCU’s long-term partner institution.

The Australia Awards-Endeavor Scholarships and Fellowships is a prestigious program offered by the Australian government to help high-achieving individuals undertake study, research and professional development overseas and gain international experience, according to a letter Anantatmula received from Simon Birmingham, senator for South Australia and the minister of education and training.

“I was very happy because my interest is to understand their industrial practices and how they teach project management,” Anantatmula said. “There are so many universities where project management is taught. I want to learn from them, and also I want to help them do research to see if there is any knowledge gap in how they practice and how they teach. That’s my goal. In the process, I can also learn something so that we can improve our program.”

The fellowship is for four months, beginning Sept. 1. Anantatmula, who has been at ĢƵsince 2005, will conduct collaborative research with RMIT professor Ron Wakefield, the deputy pro-vice chancellor and dean of School of Property, Construction and Project Management.
