Arts and Cultural Events Series begins with Hiplet Ballerina Company

This year’s Arts and Cultural Events Series kicks off with a visit from Chicago Multicultural Dance Center’s select Hiplet Ballerina Company on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. at ĢƵ’s John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center. The show is one of five ACE Series events scheduled for 2019-20.

The Hiplet Ballerina Company fuses classical pointe technique with urban dance that is rooted in communities of color. The Hiplet Ballerinas rose to fame in 2016 when their videos went viral on BuzzFeed, “Good Morning America” and The Huffington Post. That led to performances at Paris Fashion Week, NBA halftime shows and Hong Kong’s Chinese New Year’s Day Parade.

Tickets for the Hiplet Ballerinas are $5 for ĢƵstudents, $10 for non-ĢƵstudents and ĢƵfaculty and staff, and $15 for general admission. They can be purchased online at or by contacting the ticket office at 828-227-2479.
