Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ invites runners of all ages and skill levels to register for the annual Catamount Climb Half Marathon and 5K on Saturday, April 5.
The Catamount Climb will be run on campus at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵin Cullowhee, North Carolina along the banks of the Tuckasegee River. The event, hosted by the College of Health and Human Sciences and Campus Recreation and Wellness, raises money for student development and scholarships.
The 5K course is completely on campus while the half marathon course starts on campus, heads off for a few miles and returns back to campus for the finish line. The half marathon (13.1 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles) will have staggered start times to help reduce crowding.
The half marathon will start at 8 a.m., the 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Early registration fees are $45 for the half marathon and $25 for the 5K through March 9. Fees will then increase to $60 and $35 through April 4. Race day registration will be available for $75 and $45 from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at WCU’s Campus Recreation Center.
Runners younger than 18 years old can get a $5 discount on the 5K pricing.
Last year, the Catamount Climb had a record-breaking 437 runners registered for the event. Organizers anticipate breaking that record again this year with a goal of 450 registered runners.
