Earth Month, dedicated to Earth Day on April 22nd, is a FUN-filled month with various environmental and sustainability related activities and events for students on campus. Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵSustainability in the News

The solar powered facility/hammock lounge is believed to be the first on any college campus in the nation.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵhas great things coming such as an Electric Vehicle Charging Station and solar powered picnic tables. 

A nature-based sculpture project launched by Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Fine Art Museum will feature outdoors art while promoting discussion of sustainability and aesthetics on campus. 

Several Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ students and a faculty member spent a recent bitterly cold weekend in the gray winter woods on campus, working on a project that may provide society with an alternative to traditional burial and cremation.

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Harrill Residence Hall has become the university’s second building to be LEED-certified for its comprehensive energy-efficient and environmentally friendly features. 

The Energy Star logo is frequently found on household appliances across the country. But rarely do you see it affixed to a building.

A team of 18 students from Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ conducting a comprehensive energy audit of the campus took first place with their research at the Appalachian Energy Summit in Boone. It was the  in a row that Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵstudents earned the top honor.
