Ron Rash to add Sidney Lanier Prize to his list of awards

Ron Rash, ĢƵ’s John Parris Distinguished Professor of Appalachian Cultural Studies in the Department of English, will be awarded the 2020 Sidney Lanier Prize for Southern Literature by Mercer University’s Spencer B. King Jr. Center for Southern Studies.

The interactive workshop will present information on successfully hiring and retaining veterans, along with resources and tools to promote the transition to a new culture, and provide basic information on incentives for hiring veterans.

Secondary English Education Program awarded national recognition status

The achievement was determined by a rigorous review and awarded by the National Council for Teachers of English and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, the only such program to do so in North Carolina.

MFA Student Alexa Turnbull Uses Her Time and Talents for the Good of Others

Alexa Turnbull has always had a passion for art, which is why she is currently a student in the Master of Fine Art Program at ĢƵ. Alexa is using her talent to fuel her other passion, which is helping incarcerated members of the LGBTQ community and sex workers. It’s a cause she feels deeply about, which is why after receiving her bachelor’s degree from Florida State, Alexa set up Seether Bookstore.

An on-campus polling place for early voting will be located in the Multipurpose Room of A.K. Hinds University Center, weekdays Feb. 13 to Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 29, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
