Christina L. Reitz, ĢƵassociate professor of music, presented 'Cold Mountain: A Contemporary Southern Opera' at the peer-reviewed Southern Studies Conference, held at Auburn University at Montgomery on Feb. 1-2.

A Coaches' Determination Helps Define a Student's Story

“My decision to come to Western Carolina was solely based on him [Coach Mark Speir],” Crossen said. “He was a great guy when he came to talk to me in Garysburg. He drove down there in the snow. That speaks volumes. I really appreciate what he’s done for me and the chance he gave me to play at the Division I level at Western. Now, I guess I’m helping the program a little with recruiting."

ĢƵannounces new graduates, dean’s/chancellor’s list for fall

The university conferred degrees on 759 students who completed their studies in the fall semester, and 3,034 students have been named to the dean’s list for that semester.

Structured parking facility construction postponed; three new lots to come online

An overall budget of $26 million has been set to cover the cost of the parking improvements, with special obligation bonds to be issued and financed in future years through revenue from university parking rates.
