What is a Cricut? 

A Cricut is a computer-controlled cutting machine. The machines are used for cutting paper, felt, vinyl, fabric, and other materials such as leather, matboard, and wood.  

What can I make with the Cricut? 

You can use the Cricut for various creative projects, including vinyl decals, custom greeting cards, signs, personalized apparel, and more.  

Does the library provide any supplies? 

The Cricut station includes a cabinet with the following supplies. Access to these supplies is free. You just need to check out the key to the cabinet from the circulation desk.  

Individual Blades
Fine Point Blade Cut thin-to-medium materials like paper, cardstock, vinyl & iron-on 
Knife Blade  Cut thick materials like chipboard, balsa/basswood & mat board 
Rotary Blade  Cut fabric & other delicate materials like crepe paper & cork sheets

Debossing Tip  Create detailed depressions in paper, cardstock & kraft board 
Engraving Tip  Inscribe & etch designs in acrylic, soft metal, plastic & leather 

 

Clamp A Tools 
Scoring Stylus  Score fold lines into paper & cardstock 
Black Pens & Metallic Markers Draw lines on paper, cardstock, & similar materials 
Cutting Mats 
Green StandardGrip  General Purpose: vinyl, HTV, cardstock, etc.

How much does it cost? 

The library sells 12”x12” sheets of removable vinyl and cardstock at the circulation desk. They are $1 per sheet. Cricut products are available at many major retailers, and you are welcome to bring your own supplies. 

How do I get my design from my computer to the Cricut? 

You can create designs in any design software, such as InDesign, and then save it as one of the file types accepted by Cricut. The file types are PNG, JPG, SVG, DXF, GIF, and BMP.  

You will need to use Cricut Design Space () to send the design to the machine. You can use the computer connected to the Cricut or connect your computer using Bluetooth.  

Do I need to book the Cricut to use it? 

No. The Cricut is first come, first served. You only need to check out the key to the supply cabinet from the circulation desk.
