"This picturesquely located village is noted principally for its china clay work plants. It is a shipping point, too, for the rich agricultural section by which it is surrounded, and which has been developed remarkably in the last few years. Continuing its ascent of the mountains, marvelously beautiful scenery opening in grand panorama on both sides, the Railway reaches Addie, N.C."
